International Day of Peace

International Day of Peace, held on September 21st, is declared by the United Nation General Assembly as a day for people and nations around the world to observe, commemorate and strengthen the ideals of peace among all nations. Darshan Academy began the day with a special assembly which began with prayer. Next a pledge for peace was chanted by the entire school. Then a beautiful presentation on Peace, using colorful charts and posters, was presented by class VIII students. Ms. Shashi Sumra delivered a speech “Peace Begins with a Smile”. Ms. Rakhi Taneja spoke on the “Principle of International Peace and Non-Violence.” All Darshanities

Love and Service Week, Hisar

“Only through love can we obtain communion with God.”

Darshan Academy Hisar celebrated Darshan and Rajinder Love and Service Week from 14th to 20th September, 2017 in honor of the birthdays of Sant Darshan Singh Ji Maharaj and Sant Rajinder Singh Ji Maharaj. The school campus seemed to vibrate with the various activities celebrating the message of Love and Service. Students presented biographies of the lives and teachings of the saints. A spiritual poem was recited by Ridhi and Anjali of class VI. A presentation on the topic of the “Introspection Diary” was given and how it helps us to achieve more consciousness. Several activities continued throughout the week reflecting on the spiritual values of love and service. Students of class VI gave a wonderful presentation on the topic “Respect for All” using colorful flash cards and balloons. They also performed a skit on the importance of “Love, Peace and Hope.” Poems by Sant Darshan Singh Ji Maharaj were presented by students of primary classes.

DA teachers and students visited a slum area with the Roti Bank initiative - to serve humanity is to serve God - and distributed food packets. Students from class IX and XI visited a senior citizen home to spend time with the elderly and distributed fruits and sweets.

Principal Jessica R. Kamble congratulated all the students and teachers for their selfless service projects to help others, following the examples of the great Masters, and for being ambassadors of peace.

DA Delhi Staff receive Awards for Educational Excellence

Darshan Academy Delhi teachers and principal have been showered with various awards for excellence in teaching. On 5th September, 2017, at the Thyagaraj Stadium, Ms. Bhavna Arora, PGT {English} was awarded the State Teacher Award 2017 by the Chief Minister of Delhi, Shri Arvind Kejriwal and Shri Manish Sisodia, the Education Minister. Only ninety-three among fifty thousand teachers of the state received the award. The award ceremony was organized by the Directorate of Education, Government of NCT of Delhi, for valuable educational contributions in the academic session of 2016-17 in the GNCT of Delhi. For the second time Darshan Academy, Delhi has been honored and recognized at the State level by the Directorate of Education Government of NCT Delhi.

On 3rd September, 2017, DA Delhi Principal A. David was honored for his valuable educational contributions by S.K. Education (P) Ltd – a parent company of Bachpan, Academic Height public schools and Rishihood University.

On the same day Principal David, Ms. Bindu Saini and Ms. Manju Kumar were given awards by the Lions Club International and Samyak Society for Excellence in Education.

Mr. S. K. Jha (PGT Physics) and Ms. Pummi Vasudeva (PRT) were honored by Bharat Vikas Parishad on 10 September, 2017 for their contributions to quality education. Also honored were Ms. Indu Sharma and Ms. Anjali Keswani who received the FAB teacher award from Pratham, a unit of International Institute of Financial Markets Ltd. group. This group compiled a secret voting by students for their most favorite Secondary and Senior Secondary teacher. Congratulations to DA Delhi on these prestigious awards.

Story Telling Competition, Jalandhar

(October 6, 2017)

First through fifth grade students participated in a Story Telling Competition on 16th September, 2017 at Darshan Academy, Jalandhar. Sweet, youthful voices told the stories of Thirsty Crow, Falling Stars, Two Friends, Unity is Strength and other charming stories. Participating in events such as this helps create student awareness of virtues such as wisdom, courage, and honesty; while improving their vocabulary, verbal proficiency and helping them to become better orators in the future. The young students told their stories with imagination to an attentive and appreciative audience.
